EGO

So the last time I tried to write this particular blog, the Fates had made it so that I had, instead of opening a new tab, closed the one I was on without saving it... I took it as a sign that I should PROBABLY write about something else. Plus who wants to read about Her Majesty's Theatre?

Anywho, Europe was pretty amazing. It was this weird conglomerate of everything new and old. Every now and then the tour guide would say something like so the New Town was built in the 1500s and I would like freeze and think OMW my country wasn't even around when the NEW town was built. It's all so old but at the same time there's still like a McDonald's or Papa John's at every corner. I can't have a favorite place because it was all too different and too much the same. All the cities smelled like plastic. All the Italian restaurants smelled the same. By the way Olive Garden has NOTHING on the Italian places over there. Absolutely nothing. They are amazing.. And I really think that we should have some of the restaurants from there because they were just so cool, like The Slug and Lettuce which had the best tea EVER, and a pretty awesome Shepherd's Pie. And Pret A Manager was like everywhere in London, it's a French restaurant. And I loved the little pubs in Ireland, they were the best.

There were a lot of rivers over there too. Every city had one. Dublin had the River Liffey (best name ever, especially when you hear an Irish person say it), Edinburgh, which everyone there pronounced Edinborrow had the Firth of Forth (yes it's a river), in London it was, of course, the Thames, in Paris was the Seine (best river walk EVER.. oh and Beware The Gypsies..haha Micah) and so on and so forth. So there were alot of bridges. Also, everything was on a hill, all the castles, the museums, the churches. I think the only thing not on a hill was the Roman Baths and that was underground so you had to walk stairs anyways. Still we got the best views on those hills.

And the people, Irish people, true to their reputation were probably the friendliest people we ran into. They were great hosts and cooked pretty awesome food. In Scotland, the people were more patriotic and were crazy fierce about stuff like that. In England, they were pretty cool. One time I spent the whole ride on the underground talking to this English girl from Cambridge. In France, well I don't think they liked us very much.  Ah well it was still fun. I ran into a lot of Chinese people. Like a lot, and all of them had the really nice fancy cameras or were taking pictures with Ipads. One day we took this tour in Dublin and the guy was like "okay do we have an Americans in the room?" and there were like five of us out of the thirty who raised our hands. It sort of surprised me because I somehow had this image in my mind that I'd be in a bunch of American tour groups and it would be like the awkward bunch of us getting laughed at by the Europeans, but it wasn't. I was definitely a minority there. The only Americans I ran into were from North and South Carolina, which again surprised me. I spent like a whole hour on the train to Edinburgh talking to this couple from North Carolina and there were these Scottish girls across from us would just like sit and listen to us. Which I found funny because I had been listening in on their conversations on the way to Stirling (we took the same train back and forth.)

So yeah it was pretty awesome. Anyone with a love of good food and beautiful scenery should definitely go. It's not as much of a culture shock as you might think. There were days I'd wake up and think I was here. You know, until the tv starts talking in a British accent and I realize I'm not in my bed.

"Maybe I'm just a happy person!" jlince says.. riiight that's why he smirks as he reads my blog... you just had to see his face as he laughs happily at my fercously despicable attempt and making a cool, smooth blog. Well THAT'S out the window. and crashes and burns to its utmost depth. Anywho! I'm going to run for president, whether I actually get on student council is questionable, very questionable, especially since my very formidable opponent happens to have been on student council EVERY YEAR to date. But I'm going for it anyway because I have plans:) very fun very unique plans. Jim is my VP so even if you don't like me VOTE FOR JIM! Cuz he's awesome and is just as devious as I am. hehehehe.

Anyways, Jim sits right next to me and apparently his blog is about my blog, so my very few veiwers, you should check that out next... I believe he may declare war and as such this is a preemptive strike. I got you pegged Jim and I always WIN. Isn't that right justin jess?
